Here is a video of TVNZ7′s launch in 2008.

The first show to be broadcast on the channel was “The Kingmaker’s Debate” hosted by Guyon Espiner.

The video shows countdown to launch, the beginning of the debate and highlights from the first “TVNZ News Now” bulletin which aired at 1pm.

Information on channel changes as follows: Transmission of TVNZ 7 will cease at midnight on the evening of Saturday June 30. The TVNZ 7 website will close at the same time, but the TVNZ 7 Learning Hub website and resources will continue to be available online until 2013. With today’s news that TVNZ will replace TVNZ7 with a ‘plus 1′ transmission of TV One, I went back through the Dan News archives to day one of TVNZ7:

TVNZ will launch a ‘plus one’ channel on the frequency now occupied by TVNZ 7, from July 1 2012.
