Flooding at TV3 prevents show from going to air

Flooding at TV3 has created havoc for news staff and kept one show off the air.

The Fire Service was called to the Eden Terrace building shortly after 8am this morning.

A broken air conditioning unit was to blame for the deluge which inundated the Auckland newsroom and kept ‘The Nation’ off the air.

The Nation will now be broadcast live tomorrow morning.

Plunket to host The Nation on TV3

TV3’s weekend current affairs show “The Nation” has a new presenter.

Sean Plunket, the host of Radio New Zealand’s Morning Report, will join the programme on August 7.

TV3 Political Editor Duncan Garner will continue to conduct political interviews on the programme.

Mr Plunket is a 25 year veteran of broadcast journalism and has been co-hosting the critically acclaimed Morning Report for 14 years.

He has worked in the Parliamentary Press Gallery and was a foundation staff member of 3 News in 1989. He has also worked for TVNZ on programmes such as “Holmes” and “Fair Go”.

Mr Plunket also writes a monthly column for “Metro”.

His role on “The Nation” will include a weekly interview which will range across a wide variety of subjects.

“This is an exciting opportunity to return to New Zealand television screens and to continue a dialogue with New Zealanders on the issues that matter,” said Mr Plunket.

Stephen Parker to be replaced as host of ‘The Nation’

Stephen Parker, presenter of TV3’s weekend current affairs show ‘The Nation’, has decided to step down from the programme.

Mr Parker has concluded the time is right for him to pursue a freelance career, and also have a break from television in order to pursue a personal project.

TV3 Political Editor and interviewer on The Nation, Duncan Garner, will take on presenting the show from this weekend while a search for a new presenter is undertaken.

The Nation screens on Saturday mornings at 11am, repeated on Sunday morning at 8am.

TV3′s new weekly political current affairs show “The Nation” will premiere on Saturday March 20.

The show will be hosted by TV3′s former political editor Stephen Parker and will “focus on the major players and forces which shape New Zealand.”

The Nation will air on TV3 at 11AM Saturday’s and repeat 8AM Sundays.
