#5SOS on 60 Minutes next week

5 Seconds Of Summer (5SOS) are an unlikely group of teenage Australian lads who have traded in their quiet suburban lives to become rock gods. They have a following of adoring female fans packing out their stadium shows, and a debut chart-topping album that is currently number one here in NZ.

Plus, Kiwi running legend Nick Willis is in the form of his life, and is once again looking to make history with his sights set on doing the 1500m – 5000m double at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. As Willis prepares to propel the famous black singlet to the top of the podium, 60 MINUTES reporter Wayne Hay travels to catch up with him in his Michigan home.

NZ music chart says hi, hi, hi to ‘Bye Bye Bye’ as NSync hit the charts again

New Zealand’s iTunes chart has been hit with a blast from the past. With all the hype around Justin Timberlake this week, The Edge has been on a crusade to see his former boy band *NSYNC’s hit single ‘Bye Bye Bye’ reach the charts again.

‘Bye Bye Bye’ was originally released in January 2000 and made it to Number One on the NZ charts.

Fourteen years later, a campaign led by Dom Harvey from The Edge Breakfast Show with Jay-Jay, Mike & Dom has propelled ‘Bye Bye Bye’ to Number One on the iTunes Chart and this week the single also reached Number 14 in the official NZ Top 40 Singles Chart.

“*NSYNC were hard done by when the song came out in 2000,” says Harvey.

“‘Bye Bye Bye’ went to number one for just one week before it was replaced by the Vengaboys. I just wanted to put things right for Justin and the other four guys in *NSYNC whose names all escape me right now.”

“Justin Timberlake’s career keeps going from strength to strength. While him and most of his fans have moved on, I still maintain this is his finest musical moment ever.”

“I’m stoked it’s back on the NZ charts for a second time, a victory lap really.”
The timing couldn’t be better, with Justin Timberlake coming to Auckland for a show in October.
