After a tough loss at Regionals, the Glee Club returns as the underdogs of McKinley High in the Glee’s highly anticipated second season premiere, screening on Friday November 5th at 7:30pm on 3.

Entering its sophomore season, Glee Creator and Executive Producer, Ryan Murphy, says the series’ second season will in many ways be quieter then it’s predecessor. “The second season will be more intimate with less musical numbers,” Murphy tells Entertainment Weekly.

“People expect that we’re going to keep trying to top ourselves and out-Madonna ourselves. But we’re actually doing the opposite of that.”

In addition to the regular cast, Murphy explains that the series second season will also see the development of some previously minor characters on the show. “I love the characters we’ve created,” he explains.

“I love that I’m doing a whole episode around Heather Morris [Brittany]. We’ve finished a couple of the scripts and I love them even more than I did the first season. I just think they’re more emotional and funnier and I can’t wait for audiences to see them!”

Make sure not to miss the first of these all new episodes when Glee returns to our screens on Friday November 5th at 7:30pm on 3.

Leading up to the highly anticipated return of Glee, this week TV3 is screening a very special Oprah special. Featuring the Glee cast, Glee On Oprah screens on Friday, May 28th at 8:30pm on 3.

To celebrate the return of Glee, the cast of the hit series are hitting the Oprah stage! Oprah will be joined by Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison and creator Ryan Murphy for behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and a performance.

Not only is the Glee cast making this very special Oprah appearance, but in the lead up to the highly anticipated return of the series, Glee villain Jane Lynch, who portrays Sue Sylvester on the series, recently spoke to TV Guide Magazine about what fans can expect of the upcoming episodes.

According to Lynch, this time around Sue Sylvester will take her antics to the next level. Lynch explains that Sue’s plans are getting more devious, including sexual blackmail.

“She can do anything she wants now,” Lynch tells TV Guide Magazine. “Sue Sylvester cannot be stopped. She’s got Figgins in her pocket now because she blackmailed him. Sexual blackmail. You should be scared for him.”

“She’s been knocked down a few times so she comes roaring back. [Co-executive producer] Ian Brennan created Sue Sylvester and just pushes her to the most delicious extremes. I go really far.”

As well as this, Lynch says fans should brace themselves for a possible romance with Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and duet with four-time Grammy award winner Olivia Newton-John.

“Neil Patrick Harris comes back as an ex-glee clubber who has given up music and is very resentful that he didn’t become a very big star, so he sets out to destroy the glee club like me, so I’m happy to see it done,” Lynch explains about the How I Met Your Mother star’s appearance.

As for Olivia Newton-John, Lynch says that it all starts when a video of Sue performing jazzercise routines gets on YouTube.

“Olivia Newton-John sees it … calls her and says, ‘Look, I made a fool out of myself doing my ‘Physical’ video back in 1980… So let’s redeem ourselves and remake the ‘Physical’ video and make it better than before for a new generation of kids.’ So we remake the “Physical” video!”

Want to know other juicy details about the upcoming Glee season? Make sure to tune into Glee On Oprah for behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, a performance, Glee scoops, breakups, shake-ups and more! Glee On Oprah screens on Friday, May 28th at 8:30pm on 3.

It’s been a tough wait since Glee took a hiatus in early February, but now that wait is finally over! All new Glee returns to our screens on Friday, June 4th at 8:30pm on 3.

According to series stars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith, who portray Rachel and Finn respectively, this week’s premiere is bringing with it an unexpected shocker – after 13 episodes of Rachel pining for Finn, their relationship is about to do a complete 180!

“Rachel is a little busy right now because she’s fallen in love with someone else,” Michele explains to TV Guide Magazine. “Rachel will always love Finn, but she’s met her match right now with someone that she really likes who also really likes her.”

Meet Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff), the male lead for competing glee club Vocal Adrenaline. “He’s her opposite in a sense,” says Michele. “It’s interesting to see her with a fair sparring partner.”

So how does Finn feel about Rachel’s new man? “Finn has never dealt with another Alpha dog in the pack, so he really is struggling with how to handle that challenge,” Monteith says. “He might throw up the dukes a little bit.”

Meanwhile, Finn will have dating issues of his own when Santana (Naya Rivera) pursues him.

Still, executive producer Brad Falchuk says not to count out Finn and Rachel yet. “That relationship is very core to the show and it will always be back and forth with them,” says Falchuk.

“In order to pull off the dance, you have to pull it off right,” he continues. “You have to give just enough without it becoming annoying. Eventually it’s like, ‘Just do something, for God’s sake.’ Eventually we’ll do something, but for the first couple of seasons we can explore that in a way that is satisfying.”

“[Executive producer] Ryan Murphy would get too bored with them just being together; it’s too easy,” Michele says. “He’ll definitely make it hard on everyone. He’s making it hard on me!”

Make sure not to miss these new love interests as well as other unexpected revelations when Glee returns to our screens on Friday, June 4th at 8:30pm on 3.

Matthew Morrison’s Will Schuester Keeps busy helping the Glee Club hit the high notes on Glee, screening on Friday, January 8th at 7:30pm on 3. But off-screen, Morrison will soon be busy making beautiful music all on his own.

The former Broadway actor, who plays Glee Club mentor Will Schuester on the hit series, recently revealed that he will soon be working on his own album.

“Right now, I’ve almost finalised a record deal and am going to be working on an album,” he tells Buddy TV.

And what sort of sound does our favourite teacher envision for his debut solo release?

“It’s going to be different. I would consider it a classier Justin Timberlake album,” he reveals. “It’s going to be me and a big orchestra, but also with beats. Kind of like Timberlake meets Michael Buble.”

Of course music is nothing new to the 30-year-old star. A veteran of Broadway, Morrison’s stage credits include Footloose, The Rocky Horror Show, Hairspray, South Pacific and The Light in the Piazza, which earned him a Tony nomination in 2005 for his role as Fabrizio Nacarelli.

But despite being a success in both the theatre and television, Morrison reveals that conquering the music medium is all part of his master plan. “I want to be like the next Gene Kelly. I want to kind of do it all,” he explains.

“I want to have a career in movies, television, music and Broadway – but have them all be separate, their own entities.”

Whether the talented Gleek achieves his dream still remains to be seem, but one thing is for sure – he’s already a revered television actor on one of the most, if not most, critically and commercially successful shows of the year.

Make sure not to miss him in the continuation of this series when Glee screens on Friday, January 8th at 7:30pm on 3.

American critics have hailed the series as one of the best new shows of the season, and audiences agree… Now Glee is hitting New Zealand screens with the season premiere screening on Friday, November 6th at 7:30pm on 3.

The brainchild of Ryan Murphy, the creator of Nip/Tuck, Glee is about a group of social outcasts, misfits and rejects who come together to form a less than respected Glee club. With the help of their enthusiastic teacher – their aim is to make it to the state champs and become stars.

This could sound like a giant cliché, but under Murphy’s direction, Glee is anything but. In fact, Glee is one of the standout gems of the American spring season.

It is packed full of quirky but complex characters and teams an innocent purity with a rather off beat and at times cutting sense of humour. Murphy says, “The show really is about underdogs, and I think the key to the tone and the heart of the show is that people will love them because they are underdogs.”

After the success of Nip/Tuck, Murphy says he wanted “to do a show that appeals to everybody. I’ve done a cable show and that to me was a big challenge.”

Glee is a huge change in direction for Murphy, “I’ve done sort of eight years of darkness and really adult stuff, and I was like, OK, I want to try something different. I want to do a show that has a bigger heart and is kinder, but make no mistake. It still has an edge, and they’ve [Fox, Glee’s production company] been supportive of that.”

While Glee is jam-packed full of magical musical numbers, it certainly isn’t The Sound of Music. “I was interested in doing a musical, but I wanted to do sort of a post-modern musical” Murphy explains. He says that he wasn’t interested in doing a show where people suddenly burst into song. Murphy had three rules; characters could sing when they are performing, when they are in the rehearsal room or in fantasy sequences.

“I think that, for me, gave it some sort of life and structure, and I think that makes it more accessible to people.” The cast of Glee won’t be found singing when they should be talking!

Murphy summaries Glee by saying, “I wanted it to be snarky, and I wanted it to have attitude, and I also wanted it to have heart, and I wanted the musical numbers to be spectacular.”

And if the critic’s comments are anything to go by, Murphy has achieved his aim! Make sure not to miss Glee, premiering on Friday, November 6th at 7:30pm on 3.

Glee’s definitely coming folks! American critics have hailed the series as one of the best new shows of the season, and audiences agree…

From Ryan Murphy, the creator of Nip/Tuck, comes this year’s most anticipated and talked about television series. Glee follows an optimistic high school teacher who – against all the odds and a malicious cheerleading coach – attempts to restore his school’s fading glee club to its former glory, while helping a group of aspiring underdogs reach their true star potential.
