Matt McLean joins 20/20 team

20/20 is back for another instalment of provocative current affairs and compelling human interest stories.

Watch as the 20/20 team discovers horse placenta treatments and Vampire Facials; investigates a masseuse with wandering hands; and meets an inspiring mother who’s turned her son’s death into motivation for a medical career.

Joining the team on a ONE News sabbatical is journalist Matt McLean. A welcome addition to the team, Matt brings his own special brand of thought-provoking questioning and empathy to the subjects he covers.

TVNZ’s Kim Vinnell moving to Africa

When TVNZ reporter, Kim Vinnell was sent to Kenya to report on the actions of a kiwi aid worker, she knew she was in for a unique experience, but nothing could have prepared her for what happened.

While in Kenya, Vinnell not only made a connection with the locals, she also fell in love and is now following her heart and returning to Africa.

The announcement was made at the end of the latest edition of 20/20 which featured a report from Vinnell on the work of New Zealander, Matt Holleman.

“It’s impossible not to be moved by these kids and the work that people like Matt are doing to help them” she said.

“It’s an experience that has bought Matt and I very close. So close that I am moving to Africa to be with him, and to help”

Popular news anchor to leave NZ

20/20 host Miriama Kamo is leaving New Zealand.

The popular TVNZ personality leaves for Germany in January and plans to live there for at least six months.

As well as hosting 20/20, Kamo has also worked as a backup presenter for ONE News.

Earlier this year, Kamo anchored live coverage of the aftermath of the Canterbury earthquake.

She had recently been named as a front runner for the soon-to-be-vacated presenting position on Breakfast.

Kamo has also been polling well in this year’s Dan News Awards poll.

TVNZ told Dan News that they are in the process of finding a replacement for the TV2 current affairs show.
