Woman’s Day is on the hunt for New Zealand’s hottest radio hunk

New Zealand’s most popular women’s magazine has launched a nationwide search, asking readers to nominate some of the hottest men behind those voices listeners have grown to love.

Editor-in-Chief Sido Kitchin says, “Forget the old adage ‘a face for radio’. There are some gorgeous men we adore behind the radio mics, from Kaitaia to Bluff, and they’re about to get some special attention from fans. It doesn’t matter whether listeners are into young pop DJs, shock jocks, silver foxes or thinking-women’s crumpets of the industry, we want nominations! No doubt there will be differing opinions on what makes someone hunk-worthy – it’s up for interpretation, and I anticipate widespread debate, sabotage and skulduggery in our hunt.”

Readers need to head to nowtolove.co.nz/radiohunks and name their pick for New Zealand’s Hottest Radio Hunk. It gets better – five lucky readers will win $100 in cold, hard cash just for nominating!

Woman’s Day will be announcing the top 10 Radio Hunks finalists on August 14 in the magazine, on our Woman’s Day Facebook page and on nowtolove.co.nz. The magazine will then put the call out for finalist voting, which will determine New Zealand’s Hottest Radio Hunk.

Nominations close on August 9, voting closes August 30 and the winner will be announced September 4.

Diana doco gives THREE its biggest ratings night this year

Ratings from last night confirm that New Zealanders still love Diana.

‘Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy’ gave THREE one of its best ratings nights this year.

Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy won its timeslot across all four demographics. The documentary rated an 8.5 in the key 25-54 demographic and achieved a 33.1% audience share.

A MediaWorks spokesperson had this to say about the ratings.

“We anticipated the documentary to be a big hit with Kiwis who we know, have a remarkable interest in Princess Diana and her children. Being able to screen the show just hours after it aired in the United Kingdom undoubtedly contributed to its success.”

‘Explosive’ new Diana doco to air in NZ

Recordings being described by British media as ‘explosive’ to air as part of new Diana doco.

‘Diana: In Her Own Words’ will air in SKY TV’s National Geographic Channel next month. This follows last night’s Diana special on THREE which sources say rated very highly.

In 1991, inside London’s Kensington Palace, Diana, Princess of Wales, participated in a series of secret interviews, recorded with her permission by a close friend on behalf of journalist Andrew Morton. Morton was writing a book about Diana’s life to reveal what life was really like for the most photographed woman in world. The public was unaware that Diana, Princess of Wales’, marriage to HRH Prince of Wales was at crisis point. In this special documentary, National Geographic Documentary Films reveals Diana’s thoughts and feelings at a very specific point in her life, presenting one side of a very complicated story…her side. Told entirely in the Princess’ voice, with no interviews, most of these unique recordings have never been broadcast.

Diana: In Her Own Words weaves archival footage and photography with these rarely heard recordings and is the latest presentation under the National Geographic Documentary Films banner. Diana: In Her Own Words premieres Tuesday 15 August, 7.30pm on National Geographic.

Executive produced by acclaimed Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Tom Jennings of 1895 Films (Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes; MLK: The Assassination Tapes), this new documentary shines fresh perspective on the Princess’ emotional journey, from childhood to her relationship with HRH Prince of Wales and her pervasive public life under the microscope.

Hounded by the press and embraced by a nation captivated by the ‘fairy-tale’ romance, she was completely unprepared for the fame that engulfed her.

Diana: In Her Own Words captures a split in the Princess’ public and private personas, underscoring intense often convoluted descriptions of her thoughts and feelings in 1991. Unflinchingly, she recounts her emotional wedding day and her experiences with postpartum depression, bulimia and her eventual triumph over her crippling anxiety to emerge as global humanitarian – the iconic, beloved People’s Princess.

“We broke down the major moments of her life and arranged them chronologically, then illustrated them with media reports and archival images from that time,” added Tom Jennings, executive producer of Diana: In Her Own Words. “So throughout the entire film, you’re hearing the internal workings of Princess Diana’s mind at a time when everyone believed she was living a fairy tale. But her marriage and her life actually were falling apart.”
