Lotto executives have been left red faced after one of their main stars rolled off set during rehearsals.
The number one ball, also known as “Onesie” is believed to have called on the help of a friend who had a ute to make his escape.
Police were made aware of the escape after Onesie was involved in a close call with a couple out walking in Central Otago.
Carol Smyth of Queenstown said she had no idea the ball was on the run until it almost knocked them over during an afternoon walk on their estate.
It’s believed Onesie disguised itself as a buoy during a kayak race before attempting to leave Auckland by train.
