SKYCITY Auckland is supporting Child Cancer Foundation’s national appeal by lighting the Sky Tower from Tuesday 18 March to Sunday 23 March.

The Sky Tower will be lit in various colours, each representing a bead of courage a child is presented with when completing a treatment.

The Sky Tower is the Southern Hemisphere’s tallest man-made structure and is an iconic part of Auckland’s cityscape.

SKYCITY lights the Sky Tower to show support for a number of organisations and special events, often for charities or community initiatives that we support financially, or to mark national holidays, milestones and other celebrations.

Brendan Telfer joins LiveSport

LiveSPORT has signed veteran sportscaster Brendan Telfer to host a new daily show, 9-10am weekdays from Friday 21 March.

Programme Director Scott Walker says: “Brendan is one of New Zealand Radio’s most talented and respected sport broadcasters and is at the top of his game. His experience and knowledge and opinion is not only entertaining but invaluable – he’s a great addition to the LiveSPORT team.”

Brendan Telfer says: “Radio has always been very dear to my heart since my introduction to broadcasting on Christchurch station 3ZB in the 1970s. It’s a bit like golf; once it gets in to your DNA it’s there for life. Experience counts for a lot in broadcasting, and at the risk of sounding immodest I think years in the business have made me a wiser, more informed and better all-round sports broadcaster than at any time in my career.

“I especially look forward to getting on air at LiveSPORT, in a time slot I love and know well, with a broadcasting company whose on-air philosophy and focus is closely allied to what I personally believe a dedicated sports station should be offering its audience.”

Brendan Telfer is one of New Zealand’s most respected and experienced sports broadcasters. His broadcasting career spans 30 years, including 25 years covering sport for TVNZ, including nine Olympics and eight Commonweath Games, and 15 years hosting the 9am-12noon show on Radio Sport. Brendan began his radio career on Christchurch station 3ZB (with NZBC) in 1973. As well as hosting the 9-10am show on LiveSPORT, Brendan is co-presenting Sky Sports weekly golf show, Kordia Golf Focus with Phillip Tataurangi.

LiveSPORT and Radio Trackside is New Zealand’s newest and largest Sport Radio Network broadcasting on 33 Frequencies across New Zealand, featuring leading broadcasters and sports professionals including Ian Smith, Grant Nisbett, Richard Loe, Nathan Rarere, Jeff Wilson, Wynton Rufer, Noah Hickey, Mark Stafford and Monty Betham.
