The Transport Accident Investigation Commission is investigating an incident involving a LAN Airlines Airbus A340 at Auckland International Airport.

A report in the New Zealand Herald says the aircraft lined up on the side of the runway instead of the centre line and hit take off lights which line the runway during take off.

The aircraft involved was CC-CQF performing flight LA-801 from Auckland to Sydney.

The flight landed safely in Sydney three hours later and there were no injuries.

LAN Airlines are yet to comment on the incident.
