Details of TVNZ 7 switch off released

Information on channel changes as follows:

Transmission of TVNZ 7 will cease at midnight on the evening of Saturday June 30.

The TVNZ 7 website will close at the same time, but the TVNZ 7 Learning Hub website and resources will continue to be available online until 2013.

The current commissioned series hosted by Tim Wilson – The Big Idea – will be available on TVNZ Ondemand following the closure of the channel.

On the morning of Sunday July 1, 2012, at 7am a new channel – TV ONE plus 1 – will begin broadcasting on the same frequency. On Electronic Programme Guides it will be available at position 7 on Freeview, and 081 on SKY and TelstraClear. The channel will also be available on the soon-to-be launched Igloo platform.

Because the new channel is a replica of TV ONE, broadcast one hour later, there will be no separate listings for it in print media.

TV ONE plus 1 will be a single national feed, and will carry the same advertising first seen on the TV ONE regional version watched by Auckland viewers. Advertisements initially screened on TV ONE in other regions will not be rebroadcast.

Eastenders theme to feature in Olympics opening ceremony – report

THE UK’s Sun newspaper has revealed what they say is the musical playlist that will accompany the London Olympic opening ceremony in July.

The event directed by Danny Boyle, is said to have a “very British” feel to it and the songs that have made the list reflect that.

From London Calling by The Clash and Wonderwall by Oasis through to a rendition of the Eastenders theme song, the event is set to feature a wide variety of music.

If you think you don’t know the tune, then I bet you’ll remember it when you hear it:
