What is Tim Lambourne doing in Hong Kong?
The daily routine is a bit different for TVNZ U’s Tim Lambourne at the moment.
The proud Pukekohe boy is spending two months in Hong Kong as an intern at The International Herald Tribune.
Dan News chatted with Tim about the experience.
“I’m halfway through a two month internship and the trip has been incredible. I love big cities, especially ones as densely populated as Hong Kong. The place has a buzz about it that is very infectious.”
The self-confessed photo nerd is particularly excited about one aspect of his job at the Tribune, selecting and editing photos for the Opinion section.
“You have to read articles about everything from Istanbul’s traffic woes to Colombia’s Guerilla movement, then find the appropriate photo from the New York Times’ photo archive. Very fun!”
“I’ve also learnt a lot about Chinese culture and society so little things that used to mystify me back in New Zealand are starting to make perfect sense. I’m trying to learn as much Mandarin as I possibly can while I’m here too. Much easier said than done.”

U Live is taking a break over Christmas. The channel will screen ‘Unlive’ from December 24. A series of U Live’s best episodes, as well as some Christmas specials.
