While listening to the Qantas crisis unfold last night, I heard this entertaining exchange on Sydney’s air traffic control (via LiveATC.net).

Virgin 535: Virgin 535. Have we missed something?
Tower: Ah, yes. Apparently Qantas has been grounded from now and they’ve locked out the union.
Virgin 535: The whole airline’s grounded?
Tower: Yep, we’ve had a few go back to the bay, the whole thing has shut down.
Virgin 535: Right.
Tower: So you might get a bit busier.
Virgin 535: We haven’t got any spare seats!
Tower: You could always have someone on your lap?
Virgin 535: We could try
