Video: Technical glitch to blame for incorrect breaking news flash

Last night TV One broadcast a breaking news ticker stating ‘a container ship’ had broken up.

The ticker appeared during ‘Air Crash Confidential’ at approximately 10pm.

A TVNZ spokesperson told Dan News that a technical glitch was to blame.

Newsreader, Greg Boyed took to Twitter to correct the mistake.

No correction was broadcast following the error or on One News at 11pm.

TVNZ say they apologise for the confusion it caused and are investigating how the error occurred.
