111 Emergency starts tonight

Presented by Kirk Torrance (Outrageous Fortune), 111 Emergency is a brand new local series which allows audiences to step inside the dangerous world of New Zealand’s emergency services. 111 Emergency premieres on Monday, April 18th at 7:30pm on 3.

This new local documentary series follows the work of the courageous people who respond to 111 calls. In the course of each ordinary day, the audience will get rare insights into the working lives of these extraordinary people.

111 Emergency is the only television series which includes footage from all three services – Ambulance, Police and Fire. It is also the only series that follows each incident from the fateful 111 phone call, right through the event on the ground, to its aftermath.

More than a dozen cameras are stationed in the communications centres and fitted inside police cars, ambulances and fire appliances, ensuring viewers are with the emergency services crews every step of the way.

The footage includes interviews with officers from cameras inside each vehicle, the hair-raising point of view from inside the Police’s Eagle helicopter, and the grittiness of the police street camera network.

We see operators and dispatchers fielding panic-stricken calls – their calm voices seeking details, while they send professionals to help.

We find out what officers are thinking as they race to respond to a call, never knowing exactly what they’ll find at the scene. And we hear the emotion of people who are often at their most frightened and vulnerable, as they tell their stories to those who are there to help.

Make sure not to miss the emotion, challenges and danger behind this week’s 111 call when 111 Emergency premieres on Monday, April 18th at 7:30pm on 3.

Andrew Mulligan has drawn the short straw and will be joining Roger Farrelly, Bryce Casey and Leah Panapa weekday mornings from 6am till 10am on The Rock Network.

Mulligan (or Mulls) is one half of the daily sports show on Prime TV – The Crowd Goes Wild – and has worked in various roles across a number of key radio brands throughout his career.

Mulligan will continue with his TV commitments and is looking forward to joining The Rumble while admitting “I understand how there’s a real tradition of excellence in breakfast radio, but it’s refreshing to join a show that bucks that trend. I couldn’t be happier”.
