Pike River Service broadcast details
TVNZ’s host broadcast of the Remembrance Service will begin sharp at 1.58pm on Thursday.
This is to allow for introductory remarks before two minutes of silence is observed at exactly 2pm.
The broadcast is expected to finish at 3.30pm.
The service will be broadcast on TV ONE, and will also be live streamed on tvnz.co.nz. For those unable to watch the live broadcast, it will be available from approximately 30 minutes after the finish on TVNZ Ondemand.
Both the live stream and the Ondemand replay will be available to be watched by viewers around the world.
On TVNZ 7 a replay of the service will be broadcast at 10.10pm tomorrow evening.
TVNZ will also be providing live captioning for the deaf and hearing impaired communities.
Special funding from New Zealand on Air has enabled TVNZ to broadcast the service uninterrupted and without commercials. TVNZ’s live coverage will be made available to other broadcasters that wish to play the service commercial-free.
At this point the broadcast will be taken by TV3, Prime, Sky News New Zealand and Sky News Australia.
Radio:
Newstalk ZB will bradcast the service live.
The coverage will be hosted by Paul Holmes

It seems that no FTA networks in Australia are going to carry the service live, which is disappointing, given that all five networks sent a reporter over to New Zealand. Great to hear that TVNZ have removed the geoblock on the broadcast.
I thought ABC News 24 at least would cover the service, however, they have not announced that they will be doing so. Perhaps they’ll surprise us tomorrow.
