One of the most popular news readers on our screens has announced she’s heading to Germany on a language learning expedition.
Speaking with Dan News, Kamo looked back at her time with TVNZ. From her first TV role on ‘Get Real’ through to her time at 20/20.
“I’ve been so lucky to enjoy the job in its entirety as a reporter and a presenter.” she said.
When asked what stories stood out over her time with One News, Kamo immediately spoke about the massive scale of last week’s mine explosion.
“It’s been such a huge story, no one who has worked on this story is ever going to forget it.”
Pike River followed another major local story, the Christchurch Earthquake which Miriama anchored in the evening for TVNZ.
She was tipped to be one of the front-runner’s for the soon-to-be vacated Breakfast position but said that Breakfast was never discussed, her plan was always to go to Germany.
Kamo wouldn’t be drawn on who she would like to see get the job.
“I’m really excited to see who gets pulled out of the hat. Sometimes with these things you get a really great surprise, so I’m looking forward to seeing who they come up with for Breakfast, and for 20/20.”
Kamo said she will be in Germany for at least six months and is not sure what her plans will be when she returns to New Zealand.
