Ronan Keating to present at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards 0

Founding Boyzone member and international pop sensation Ronan Keating is confirmed as a presenter at this year’s Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, on Thursday October 7.

Keating is one of the judges on The X Factor Australia, which screens Thursdays at 7.30pm and Fridays at 8.30pm on TV3.

Keating is relishing his role as mentor to the Over 25s on the hit show that has taken the world by storm. Travelling from Ireland to take up the role, he is joined by fellow judges Guy Sebastian, Natalie Imbruglia and Kyle Sandilands.

The competition is fierce and is heating up as at the final 12 are whittled down one by one each week, culminating in a grand finale that will see one group or individual crowned The X Factor Australia champion for 2010.

Keating’s top three are all still in the running to take out the competition, which was won in the UK by Leona Lewis (2006 UK X Factor), who went on to become a multi-platinum artist across Europe, the US and Australia. Her debut album ‘Spirit’ sold over 6.5 million copies globally.

He told Australia’s Channel 7: “I’m a huge fan of the show and it’s a dream job for me,” he says. “I’ve wanted to be a part of it from the get go. I’m at a point in my career where I’m excited to be able share some of my knowledge with people at the beginning of their career and to help to bring out the best in them.”

Keating will be presenting at the awards alongside Brooke Fraser and will hand two lucky recipients trophies for the ‘Vodafone Single of the Year’ and ‘Vodafone Album of the Year’.

“It’s great to be returning to New Zealand and I’m looking forward to being part of the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards. It’s going to be a great night of Kiwi music with a little bit of Irish craic thrown in.”

Held at Auckland’s Vector Arena the awards will screen on C4 from 8.30pm, Thursday October 7.

As well as his role on The X Factor Australia, Ronan is currently working on a new album of duets that will be released mid-November.

The record, which includes covers and original Ronan compositions, promises to be extra special as it features a diverse range of guest artists including our very own Adeaze and Hayley Westenra.
