Long running British police drama “The Bill” has been axed.

The series which first aired in 1983 has struggled to turn around falling ratings in recent years.

ITV said that the decision to axe the show reflected the “changing tastes” of viewers.

The Bill currently screens Sunday nights on UKTV in New Zealand.
