This week The Rock radio network launches a new night show called Channel Z Nights (7pm – 10pm), diversifying the music format to include a broader range of rock music not currently heard on New Zealand radio.
Channel Z Nights targets a predominantly male audience (18 – 34) who are hungry for the latest Rock and Alternative Rock from home and abroad.
A nod to the music of the Channel Z radio format, Channel Z Nights on The Rock will deliver a wide range of rock music including core artists The Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon and Shihad, alongside more alternative bands, Queens of the Stone Age, System of a Down, Rage Against The Machine and Kasabian.
Brad King, The Rock’s Programme Director, said “we get a lot of feedback from punters wanting to hear more alternative bands and a lot more new rock, particularly at nights. Channel Z Nights is how we’re going to be able to deliver that.”

I’ve missed Channel Z. It played a great variety of music including heaps of kiwi bands. Good luck to the rock on this new venture. Pity it can’t be 24/7 like back in the day.
What is this “food fighters” band? Never heard of them.
