Sid Mitchell causes trouble on Shortland Street this week

Devious Sid Mitchell (Thijs Morris) causes some trouble on Shortland Street this week, but who will pay the price? When Sid’s plan to have some fun doesn’t quite pan out, it may not be him that takes the fall.

When it’s revealed that Sid was responsible for spiking a drink at the IV, a defeated Sid decides to distract himself. Scoring some ecstasy directly off Tupac’s (Mauri Stokes) cousin, Sid heads to Rebecca (Marise Wipani) and Kieran’s (Adam Rickitt) escort agency.

“Sid thinks that everyone needs to lighten up a bit and have a bit of fun,” says Morris. “He likes to party and feels like everyone else should take a page out of his book.”

Keen to spend some time with working girl Brandy (Sascha Moore), Sid uses drugs as her payment. But when the drugs react badly and Brandy becomes violently ill, mistress Rebecca (Marise Wipani) quickly becomes suspicious.

“Rebecca thinks that Tupac has something to do with it, and realising the repercussions that could come from this if he was implicated, Sid decides to keep his mouth shut,” says Morris. “As Brandy is taken off to hospital, Sid prays that she’ll keep quiet too.”

When Kieran discovers that Tupac may have sold drugs at the escort agency, he’s furious. But his fury soon turns to confusion when Tupac reveals to him that it is in fact Sid, his own brother, who is responsible.

“When the police are called on Tupac, Sid knows that he will be accountable for sending this young man to jail,” says Morris. “But without much of a conscience, it’s a fairly easy choice to let Tupac take the rap.”

Will Sid get away with this dirty business?
