Auckland’s 91.8 MORE FM is making good things happen for a deserving North Shore family. ‘The Morning Fix’ breakfast show (featuring Jeremy Corbett, Joe Cotton and Jesse Mulligan) announced this morning that Mark McFadzien of Beach Haven, North Shore has won a surprise house and garden makeover worth $20,000, to be completed this weekend with Auckland’s 91.8 MORE FM’s ‘Make It Happen.’
“Every year I look forward to the multi-headed, 99-armed beast that is ‘Make It Happen’, a creature that swarms over a deserving Aucklander’s abode, sucks out the bad and replaces it with the gleaming new,” said Jeremy Corbett. “It’s entirely selfish, of course. As each year I can’t help but be moved by the stories we hear, the wonderful people that give so generously and the real meaning of that often over-used word ‘community.’”
Mark McFadzien was nominated by his 19-year-old daughter Rebecca who said in her entry, “My Dad has always put his family and friends before himself. He never complains and has always done his very best to help us make our bedrooms look the way that we dreamt. He would never want to spend money on ‘cosmetic’ aspects of the house if they were for himself so winning this competition really would be super amazing!”
The MORE FM team, along with a handful of local businesses who have donated their products and services, will work around the clock this weekend to completely renovate the McFadzien’s home while they’re off having fun. The makeover includes new carpet throughout the entire house, painting inside and out, new furniture, and a new garden and BBQ area.
Listen to Auckland’s 91.8 MORE FM from 6am tomorrow as ‘The Morning Fix’ broadcast live from the ‘Make It Happen’ house and kick off the weekend of work. The big reveal of the McFadzien’s new and improved home will happen at 7am Monday morning.[ad]
