The Apprentice New Zealand Host Announced

Wellington businessman Terry Serepisos will be the host of The Apprentice New Zealand, coming soon to TV2.

A self-made entrepreneur, Serepisos has made his name in property development, with an estimated personal worth of 140 million dollars. He is also the sole owner of the A-League Wellington Phoenix football club.

Serepisos will fill the shoes of American tycoon Donald Trump in the local version of the hit international series, a challenge which Serepisos says he is incredibly excited about.

“It’s a great honour and something I’m looking forward to. I’ve always set high standards, goals and challenges in my business life, and this is a challenge I’m truly excited about. It’s a significant commitment time-wise, but I’m fortunate to have great people involved at my companies, who will keep things running smoothly. That is a significant reason why I agreed to get involved in The Apprentice – I understand the importance of getting the right people for the right jobs.”

The Apprentice New Zealand will give 14 contestants the chance to win themselves a six-figure salaried job with Serepisos, and the potential to become his deputy.

Serepisos is looking forward to meeting the 14 contestants. “I’ve worked hard to achieve what I have in life, be it in business or personally. I’m excited about meeting people who are also prepared to put in the hard yards to achieve their goals and be successful.”

For Serepisos, honesty, integrity, creativity and resilience will be key attributes of his apprentice. “Since I lost Kosta, my brother and business partner, to leukemia three years ago, I’ve looked for a person to become my right hand, a person who can help lead my business interests here and overseas. I’m hoping the winner of The Apprentice New Zealand will be that person.”

Auditions were held in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown, with 1500 applicants narrowed down to a shortlist of 200. Auditions are now closed.

The Apprentice New Zealand will screen early next year.
