TVNZ is delighted to welcome Joan Withers to the company’s Board of Directors.
Ms Withers, who has extensive media experience in both radio and newspapers, replaces Phillip Melchior whose term recently expired.
Ms Withers was the Chief Executive Officer of The Radio Network, the largest radio network in the country, until 1997 when she began an 8-year career as a professional company director serving on the Boards of a number of New Zealand’s largest companies.
In 2005 she was appointed Chief Executive of newspaper publishing company Fairfax Media.
She retired from executive life in June 2009, but retains a directorship of Auckland International Airport and was recently appointed to the Board of Mighty River Power.
Ms Withers, who has an MBA from The University of Auckland, is the recipient of the 2009 CAANZ Media Excellence Award.
