New face for TV3′s Sunrise

Sunrise news presenter Sacha McNeil will be replaced by former TV3 journalist Ingrid Hipkiss when she goes on maternity leave this Friday, July 3.

Hipkiss will be a familiar face to TV3 viewers from her days on air as a political reporter in Wellington up until 2007, when she left herself to have her son.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge of presenting with the Sunrise team,” says Hipkiss. “I’ve always been a fan of the show – it’s great to start the day with a mix of information and entertainment, and it’ll be fun being part of the team making it happen.”

McNeil has been with the team since it started on air in October 2007. Hipkiss will begin on air fulltime on Monday July 6.

Director of News, Mark Jennings, says Sacha is a valued member of the team and will be missed by her colleagues.

He adds that Ingrid brings a wealth of experience to the show and is looking forward to the team continuing to bring viewers a mix of energy and news talent daily.

Sunrise screens weekdays from 7am on TV3.
