New nightly ‘Sky National News’ set to hit the airwaves
Monday June 29 will see the launch of a new nightly news programme on Australia’s Sky News channel.
“Sky National News with Jim Waley” will go to air at 6PM Sydney local time (8PM New Zealand time).
Waley joins the Sky News team after being axed by Channel 9.
His appointment was not without controversy however. Veteran Sky News presenter John Gatfield was dropped by the network shortly after Waley signed on with the pay TV news channel.

Wow…havn’t sen a bad cliched promo like that in a while…looks like a parady of itself. But then that’s Aussie news through & through!
One of the great things about the nightly news (Ten at 5pm, 7 and 9 at 6pm and ABC1 at 7pm) is that each state capital city gets it’s own edition, which allows it to focus on local issues. This is something that Sky News (which is broadcast nationally) will lack.
