New Zealand, the time you’ve been waiting for is finally here! This week sees the last 12 weeks come to a dramatic conclusion when Sara Tetro names the country’s first New Zealand’s Next Top Model winner on Friday, June 5th at 7:30pm on 3.
Hosted by Tetro, with judges photographer Chris Sisarich and international fashion model Colin Mathura-Jeffree, over the last 12 weeks New Zealand Next Top Model has chronicled the transformation of everyday young women into potentially fierce supermodels.
From thousands of girls who auditioned 33 were chosen. These girls were then cut down to 13 models who moved into the Top Model house in the hope of becoming New Zealand’s Next Top Model.
Now only three girls remain in the house, but even though there can only be one winner, series producer Anna Lynch says all 13 have a very genuine chance of making a name for themselves in the modelling world.
“We found such amazing girls to be a part of it… they are not only naturally beautiful, but they are all genuine characters, and they all brought something very individual and special to the show,” she says, adding; “Each of them has a very real chance of making a career in modelling if they choose to do so.”
But it wasn’t only the girls that have made the series the local institution that its become, Lynch says that the people involved behind the scenes have had just as much of a leading role as the models themselves.
“We were incredibly privileged to have the cream of New Zealand’s fashion industry, stylists, photographers, and designers, who were prepared to come on board and share their expertise with us – we couldn’t have done it without them,” she says.
And as for the fans, Lynch say; “We’ve also been delighted by how kiwi viewers have embraced the show. We love to hear about the Top Model parties happening around the country on Friday nights, we love that everyone has their favourite model, and that each episode engenders healthy debate about who should or shouldn’t have been eliminated. It’s fun – and everyone needs more fun!”
And fun will certainly be the ride that the first New Zealand’s Next Top Model winner will be on following this week’s finale. Make sure to find out who this girl is when New Zealand’s Next Top Model names its first winner on Friday, June 5th at 7:30pm on 3.
