TVNZ is celebrating a quarter of a century of Maori broadcasting on Monday with a new-look Te Karere.

TK began as a 2 minute news update in Maori Language week. From Monday it becomes a full service half hour news bulletin that includes weather for the first time.

Derek Fox founded Te Karere and many other well known Maori broadcasters have worked on it. Today it is presented by Scott Morrison, former TK political editor Shane Taurima is the editor and Tina Wickliffe from Maori TV has recently been appointed to replace Shane in the gallery.

The new programme goes to air at 4:10pm on Monday and will be watched live at TVNZ by former Te Karere staff and other invited guests after a Maori welcome in the TVNZ Atrium.
