TVNZ gear up for Waitangi Day 0

Miriama Kamo and Scott Morrison present a three-hour LIVE special on TV One to celebrate Waitangi Day 2009.

Waitangi 09: He Māramatanga [A new dawn, a new understanding] will have LIVE and up-to-date coverage of Waitangi events from around the country with reporters based at Waitangi, Wellington, Okahu Bay in Auckland, Rotorua and Okains Bay at Banks Peninsula.

Te Karere Editor Shane Taurima will be in the studio with a panel of experts to debate the issues surrounding the Treaty of Waitangi and the importance of Waitangi Day for all New Zealanders.

There’ll be performances from some of New Zealand’s top entertainers, including Moana and the Tribe, Hollie Smith and Nesian Mystik.

Waitangi 09: He Māramatanga will also feature famous New Zealanders giving their perspective on Waitangi Day and how they celebrate it.

Also on Waitangi Day, ONE News bulletins throughout the day and Close Up will also be following Waitangi Day events and celebrations throughout the country.
